Urban Action Towards a New Deal for Nature

Pourquoi assister à cette session?
Urban action is crucial for the rest of the planet – come and find out what cities and subnational governments are doing to contribute towards a New Deal for Nature and how we can work together to accelerate action.
HideDescription
As the 2019 IPBES Global Assessment makes clear, the growing pressures of urbanisation currently pose a threat to global goals for biodiversity. Yet at the same time, there is growing evidence that cities can provide opportunities for conserving, restoring and thriving with nature. Urban landscapes are now a critical frontier for biodiversity action. This thematic session will focus on demonstrating the commitments and actions that cities and subnational governments are already taking and identifying the key strategies and measures needed to support, embed and accelerate this work. The session will demonstrate the success of urban action for biodiversity, sharing examples, evidence and experiences from researchers, policy-makers and practitioners.
